Journal Ethics - International Journal of Information Systems in Engineering and Management (IJISEM)

The International Journal of Information Systems in Engineering and Management (IJISEM) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethics in scholarly publishing. All parties involved in the publication process — authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher — are expected to uphold the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability, in line with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their submissions are original works and free from plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. Proper acknowledgment of others’ work must be given through accurate citations and references.
  • Data Accuracy and Integrity: Authors should present research findings truthfully, without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation of data. All data should be retained for possible examination upon request.
  • Multiple or Redundant Publication: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
  • Authorship Criteria: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research and manuscript preparation. All contributors must agree to the final version of the paper before submission.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional conflicts of interest that could be perceived to influence their work.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editorial Independence: Editors are responsible for all decisions regarding publication and will evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without bias related to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, or political philosophy.
  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, or other editorial advisers.
  • Fair Review Process: Editors must ensure that every manuscript undergoes a rigorous, double-blind peer review by qualified experts in the field.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest and should assign such submissions to other editorial members.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, providing constructive feedback to improve the manuscript without personal criticism.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and report any suspected plagiarism or ethical misconduct.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline assignments if they have conflicts of interest that could affect their judgment.

4. Publisher’s Responsibilities

  • Ensure the permanent availability and preservation of scholarly content.
  • Uphold transparency in publication processes.
  • Support ethical research and publishing practices by collaborating with authors, editors, and reviewers.

5. Liability Disclaimer

While all manuscripts submitted to IJISEM undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process and thorough quality checks to ensure accuracy, originality, and adherence to ethical guidelines, the journal and its publisher are not liable for the content, findings, interpretations, or conclusions presented in published articles. The responsibility for the accuracy, reliability, and legality of the content rests solely with the authors. The opinions expressed in published works do not necessarily represent the views of the editors, reviewers, or the publisher.

6. Misconduct and Corrections

In cases of suspected or proven misconduct, plagiarism, or fraudulent publication, IJISEM will follow COPE guidelines, which may include:

  • Retraction of the article
  • Issuance of a correction or clarification
  • Notification to relevant institutions and authorities

This ethics statement reflects IJISEM’s dedication to maintaining a trustworthy, transparent, and responsible scholarly communication platform, while making clear that final responsibility for published work lies with the authors.
